1884 Golding Pearl No 3 7×11

Up for grabs here is an 1884 Golding Pearl No 3 7x11 letterpress. This fine fellow came to us from Vermont where he seemed to have led a very good and well cared for life. Unlike many presses that come through our doors, he just needed a thorough cleaning to be brought back into good shape. He didn't even require a full disassembly, and only needed a bit of paint touch-up here and there. His paint is 99% original as far as I can tell, with even some areas of original pinstriping still visible.

Among the things we did to get this press back in action were:

  • A new feed table with newly cast bracket
  • Newly machined roller hooks and springs
  • Brand new rollers
  • Cleaned and cleared all oilways
  • Shimmed ink disc slightly for better rotation
  • Sourced original gripper arms, new gripper rod

All in all, this is an exceptionally nice example of the old style Pearl letterpress and one that would make an excellent addition to any shop or collection.
